November 8 - Remembrance Day Sunday

November 8 recap from Paul Mugarura on Vimeo.

Song list for this past Sunday was as follows:

For all you've done (Ruben Morgan)
You are Good (Israel Houghton - the Travis Cottrell Version)
King of Majesty (Marty Sampson)
Let the praises ring (Lincoln Brewster)
I know who I am (Israel Houghton and Chris Tomlin)
In Christ alone with the solid rock (Keith Getty and Stuart Townend)
Lord I run to you (Tommy Walker)
Today (Brian Doerksen)

Trouble with MediaShout. I generally have a difficult time with playing quicktime files (videos or moving backgrounds) on MediaShout. I find that the solution they prescribe - Quicktime Alternative - is a hit or miss depending on the file. I've been wondering if the new version of iMovie in the iLife suite on Macs is spitting out a newer version of quicktime files. Is anybody in the worship community that uses MediaShout having similar problems?

We had a gentleman in the military show up with his bagpipes this past sunday morning and it actually worked out very well because the video I had produced would not work on our projection PC. So we had a military procession with him playing "Amazing Grace" on the bagpipes followed by the congregation singing the national anthem. It turned out great and we ended up coming off as having a well thought out and polished remembrance day moment... thank the Lord for that!

So... how was your sunday morning service?

November 1 Recap - Cajon and Djembe Sunday

Here is the song list from last week and the styles in which we attempted to play them:

Better is one day (Matt Redman) - world beat-ish
I will search (Israel Houghton) - same as above
Be the centre (Michael Frye) - same as above

Majesty (Here I am) (Martin Smith and Stuart Garrard) - Pseudo Reggae
It is You (Peter Furler) - World beat - ish

Amazed (Jared Anderson) - shakers only, laid back

It was hard work preparing to lead worship while playing the cajon, shakers and djembe, but I think that we did OK and pulled it off just fine.

October 18 Recap

Here is the song list from last sunday:

Holy is the Lord (Chris Tomlin and Louie Giglio)
We have overcome (Israel Houghton and Aaron Lindsay)
Here I am to worship (Tim Huges)

Salvation is here (Joel Houston)
You are my world (Marty Sampson)
Your name (Paul Baloche)

Til I see you (Jadwin Gillies and Joel Houston)

As mentioned in the video, after the song "You are my world", I felt led to go in a different direction and lead in a couple of hymns talking about the cross. It was an incrediblel God-moment that the congregation absolutely engaged with and was warming to my heart to see how the hymns of our heritage still stir even the youngest hearts. These were the songs I led in:

And can it be (Charles Wesley)
Nothing but the blood (Robert Lowry)
Are you washed in the blood (Elisha A. Hoffman)
There is power in the blood. (Lewis E. Jones)

As you can see, I'm not afraid or ashamed to talk about the blood of Jesus!
